“Poetry in the Multiverse” (New York, NY, 2024)

What happens when we peer across dimensions into the multiverse? In this workshop, we explored ideas around alternate universes, outer space, and inner space (i.e., the galaxies within us) for poetic inspiration. What realities can we create, visualize, or sense from these realms that inspire poetry? Guided by works from poets who have found inspiration in these spaces, we explored what comes forth when we release our imaginations into the deep unknown.

This workshop subject was motivated by my deep curiosity about the possibilities of other miraculous worlds unfurling parallel to ours: Places where things that seem impossible here are as easy as sunrise; where things we’ve lost here thrive and abound freely; where our heaviest burdens here are as light as laughter…

In this workshop, we took inspiration from poets who are influenced by multidimensional universes, artists who create at the intersection of science and dreams, and poets who conceive their own alternate universes by voicing the parts of them that diverge from the “norm”/mainstream. Then, we wrote our own poetry guided by prompts I created.

This workshop was created in collaboration with The Poetry Society of New York as part of PSNY’s virtual workshop series.
